There are more websites available on the internet than one person could ever browse. But if you’re a web designer by trade or just someone who enjoys it as a hobby, then you definitely want to see the best of the best.

Luckily, there are better ways than just browsing the internet and hoping you stumble upon something fantastic. Here are some of the best websites to inspire your web design journey.

A screenshot of the Webdesign Inspiration landing page

First on this list comes Web Design Inspiration, a website that does pretty much exactly what you might expect from its title. It is a website full of inspiration for web design.

The Web Design Inspiration landing page offers a huge list of different web design ideas that you can use as inspiration. Each image links you to a different website that has been chosen to be outstanding in one way or another. These are the types of websites that impress your customers.

If you click on the link title, you will instead be taken to a page with additional information about the website. This will give you information about the predominant colors of the website, styles, types, industries, CMS, programming languages used, etc.

This is very convenient because Web Design Inspiration also allows you to filter by a wide range of different categories. You can use most of the tags above to filter, so if you’re looking for inspiration for an interesting way to use a green color scheme, Web Design Inspiration is a great way to do it.

USE VIDEO OF THE DAY

If you use WordPress, you can also find an entire section dedicated to WordPress themes and sites that also help you work on WordPress. You can search any of them the same way you can search for inspiration from the main page.

A screenshot of the best website gallery landing page

Next on this list is the best website gallery. Best Website Gallery is a great resource for regularly discovering awesome new websites.

Best Website Gallery is, at its heart, a collection of visual bookmarks for the creator. Luckily for you, it’s completely public and incredibly accessible.

Sites that impress the creator of Best Website Gallery are selected and added as he discovers them, and users can then vote on the site’s design on a scale of one to ten.

You can view more details about each site in depth, and each link even includes an impressive number of different screenshots if the website goes down or changes for some reason.

The filtering system here is also very impressive. It looks gorgeous, but it’s also incredibly intuitive and easy to use. You can filter by website color, CMS, style or framework here. Mix and match is also possible if you are looking for something really specific.

A screenshot of the CSS-Tricks landing page

Now, if you thought long lists of websites were the only way to find inspiration, then you’re sorely mistaken. CSS-Tricks is a blog dedicated to different web design elements, namely CSS, a staple of almost all responsive web designs.

All you have to do with CSS-Tricks is scroll down to browse through the various articles. There’s a section dedicated to articles that are popular this month if you’re looking for something in particular, but that’s not the only way to browse.

You can search for videos that CSS-Tricks publishes on their website and on YouTube, or sort through the various guides available. You can even search for the CSS-Tricks Almanac, which should help explain just about any CSS property you could imagine.

What’s good here is the variety. You might see an article talking about a certain effect you never thought of before, and once you see what’s written, realize it’s a lot easier to achieve than you ever thought.

A screenshot of the Webdesigner Depot landing page

Next on this list we have Webdesigner Depot. If you’re looking for more general design advice, or if you don’t personally dabble in a lot of CSS, then this blog is probably the best resource for you.

Webdesigner Depot is a blog dedicated to all aspects of web design such as workflow, UI concepts, news, etc. If it’s about the web development tool used by professionals, it’ll be here.

Important posts appear at the top of the website, and below you will find the section dedicated to popular posts.

There’s an overwhelming amount of variety here in the types of items you’ll find. Quizzes and polls can serve to keep you entertained, while informative UI and UX posts are plentiful.

If you love the website, you can even subscribe to a newsletter to make sure you’re updated whenever new articles come out, and you can even access various freebies. If you’re looking for new fonts, icons, etc., this is a great resource to have.

A screenshot of the r/web_design and r/webdev banners

Finally, we have Reddit. Not the whole site, but rather two incredibly useful Subreddits. First, there is ar/web_design.

r/web_design is a great subreddit for anyone interested in web design. It features cool concepts, new ideas, and lots of other users showcasing their cool designs.

Second, we have r/webdev, which, as you might have guessed, focuses more on the development side of building web pages. Despite this, r/webdev has plenty of useful resources for whatever development you’re actually doing.

The great thing about these Subreddits is not only that you will find things you would never see anywhere else on the internet, but also that you can participate yourself.

If you have questions about a project or concept that you’re having trouble executing, you can head over to the Subreddit for feedback or help. This is an invaluable resource for all of you freelancers.

Take your web design to the next level

As you can see, website design inspiration is only ever a few clicks away. I hope with this article you have found something that really speaks to you and some new ideas for your next website.

If you’re just a hobbyist or hoping to evolve your skills even further, however, there’s no need to stop at inspiration. You can always learn more in the world of web design or development, and knowledge can be your most powerful weapon.
